Already a Supervisor renewing
Use ordinary Florida renewal CE, not the 25/48-hour qualification matrix. If the renewal deadline has passed or the current license status is unclear, resolve status before calculating CE.
Florida Supervisor Qualification
A 25-hour course is not a universal Florida Supervisor requirement. Qualification depends on specialty, Technologist-level eligibility, education, science coursework, experience, certification/examination, and route-specific requirements under Rule 64B3-5.002.

Already licensed as a Supervisor and renewing? Use the Florida laboratory renewal guide. Applying to become or upgrade to Supervisor? Use the qualification routes on this page.
Technologist Prerequisite
Current Board guidance requires a Supervisor applicant to be licensed as, or meet the requirements for, Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure before the specialty-specific Supervisor route is applied.
A Supervisor application does not remove the Technologist-level qualification requirement. You must be licensed as, or independently meet the requirements for, Technologist licensure in addition to satisfying a Supervisor route.
Find Your Qualification Route
Use ordinary Florida renewal CE, not the 25/48-hour qualification matrix. If the renewal deadline has passed or the current license status is unclear, resolve status before calculating CE.
Use the current Board adding-specialty workflow; do not treat it as a generic initial/upgrade route.
These are separate pathways. Consult the Board guidance for the applicable pathway rather than relying on the ordinary Supervisor qualification routes below.
Continue below with the specialty-qualified route groups and current Board criteria.
Rule 64B3-5.002 Route Groups
Your applicable route depends on your specialty, education, experience, and certification. Verify unclear eligibility with the Board before selecting qualification education.
Microbiology, Serology/Immunology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Blood Banking/Donor Processing, Cytogenetics.
Doctoral/master's/bachelor's routes combine degree/science thresholds, pertinent experience, specialty experience, and either 25h supervision/administration or an allowed certification/exam pathway.
Routes depend on degree, science hours, pertinent Cytology experience, and SCT(ASCP) or the applicable 25h/GS(ABB) route.
Histology contains the clearest 25-vs-48 distinction and requires route-specific timing.
Andrology / Embryology use route-specific degree/science, experience, and 25h or TS(ABB)/exam alternatives.
CHS(ABHI), degree/experience, and 25h/GS(ABB) alternatives apply depending on route. Use Histocompatibility-specific requirements rather than assuming Group A science-hour thresholds apply.
Degree/science thresholds, pertinent specialty experience, and current rule-recognized Molecular Diagnostics/CHS/SMB or 25h routes may apply.
Histology Qualification Routes
Histology Option 1a may use 25 hours of supervision/administration education within the prior five years, subject to the current route criteria.
Histology Option 1b uses 48 hours within the prior five years.
Histology Option 1c uses 48 hours within the prior five years.
Hours alone do not establish eligibility.

Supervisor Qualification Course Availability
Confirm whether your route requires 25 hours, 48 hours, or a certification/examination alternative before selecting education. Check the specific course's current eligibility and reporting arrangements; completing hours alone does not establish Supervisor eligibility.
